How to Extinguish a Fire at the Initial Stages
Three Methods:Extinguishing Electrical FiresExtinguishing Liquid/Oil FiresExtinguishing Organic Fires
When a fire first ignites, it may be small enough that you can extinguish it with a fire blanket or a fire extinguisher on hand. By being prepared and quickly determining the type of fire with which you’re dealing, you have an even better chance of not only extinguishing the fire but also of doing it without risking injury. However, remember that the safety of everyone in the proximity—including you—comes first. If the fire is quickly spreading, producing dangerous amounts of smoke, or taking longer than five seconds to defeat with a fire extinguisher, then you must pull a fire alarm, evacuate the building, and call 911.
