Nowadays, there are other Maori political structures. Some are still very much tribal. This is true of South Island's Ngai Tahu, which also operates a billion dollar business for the benefit of its members. In other areas, such as the big cities where many Maori have lost connection with their original tribes, there are urban marae for all to attend. There are also number of Maori who are MPs in our parliament, representing the interests of Maori people.
