One of the components of the personal self in Roy’s (2009) self-concept mode is moral-ethical-spiritual. This includes the belief system and an evaluation of who one is in relation to the universe. The theorist described her philosophic assumptions of the model that relates to spirituality as follows: (1) persons have mutual relationships with the world and God, (2)
God is intimately revealed in the diversity of creation and is the common destiny of creation, and (3) persons use human creative abilities of awareness, enlightenment and faith. She holds the belief that individuals stand united in common destiny and find meaning in mutual relations with each other, the world, and a God figure.
