NCES reports that in 2009, the event dropout rate for students with disabilities was notsignificantly different from dropout rate for students without disabilities. From 1996–1997through 2005–2006, the percentage of students who exited special education andschool (dropped out) decreased from 45.9 percent to 26.2 percent (U.S. Department ofEducation, 2011).
