Avoiding barriers
As communicators, we are the link between the audience and the message. One small error of judgement, one perceive lake of understanding, an ill-advised quip, a misjudged tone; anything which leaves our audience feeling that we do not actually understand them can see the communicator becoming a barrier to audience participation. As author Maya Angelou said, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”
