IRC RULES
MUTUAL RESPECT
Be respectful to and obey the directives of Channel Operators and Administrators. These people are site staff who volunteer their time.
Be respectful of other users. Differences of opinion are acceptable, but harassment (in the main channel or via PMs) will not be tolerated.
Joking within the context of a conversation is fine; belittling or berating others is not.
CONTENT
Derogatory, racist, sexist, homophobic, or other biased language is not allowed. If you have hate issues, take them somewhere else.
No discussion of politics or religion is allowed at any time.
No bigotry, especially related to religion, politics, ethnic background, etc.
Do not link to shock sites, anything pornographic, or anything vulgar.
Do not monopolize the channel. Our IRC channel is a place for dialogue, not monologue.
Do not ask for or beg for Invites or Points, you will be banned if you do.
Should discussion become unruly, offensive, harassing, derogatory, or otherwise unpleasant, an OP may instruct the arguing parties to relocate to another room. Such a directive from an OP is not a request.
SPAMMING
Spamming of any type. 100% free software may be recommended in response to another user's query, but recommending shareware, crippleware, or for-pay software is forbidden.
Trading for invites is not allowed.
PRIVATE MESSAGES
Do not PM, DCC, or Query anyone you do not know or have never talked to without asking, this applies mostly to staff you have no prior contact with.
LANGUAGE
No language other than English is permitted, except briefly, in the official IRC channels.
Extended use of obscenity is not allowed.
SANCTIONS
Channel Operators will warn users first that their conduct is unacceptable. Continued (or egregious) violation of the rules will result in kicking or kick-banning.
For particular serious violations, the punishment may carry over to the site itself in the form of a formal warning or even banning if warranted.
