4.3.2. Patterns and themes tested and reduced
Following from the previous step, the set of 103 nodes was
revisited. This exercise was performed by independent coders.
Following Druskat and Wheeler [16] only a full transcript of
one CSO was used for this purpose. Two independent coders
did the exercise separately and met later with us to discuss
the findings. The purpose of this was to find agreement/disagreement
on themes and coding schemes and to assess the interrater
reliability (IR).
Apart from the reliability issue, Miles and Huberman [34]
also stress the importance to benefit from different views
and interpretations that individuals have about the same
phenomenon. Miles and Huberman [34] describe this in the
