Shadow IT? More like the IT that actually gets things done! If IT departments weren't bureaucracies and instead of focusing on process improvements, formalized requirements, and scores of teams and contractors and how they were going to get funding, and focused on actually producing something in a timely manner there wouldn't be a need for "Shadow IT". I find it very surprising that CIO was surprised at the survey results.
I have to agree with Brad Garner, IT responsiveness is key, especially in a highly competitive marketplace and when success is measured not by product introduction, but by quarterly growth in revenues. Lack of a responsive IT department to assist the business in meeting those challenges drives "Shadow IT".
