Hemodynamic Effects of ConditioningThe resting ankle-to-arm blood pressure ratio didnot differ on entry between treated and control subjectsand did not change during the course of the studyin either group regardless of which leg was considered(Table 4). The 1 minute postexercise ankle-to-armblood pressure ratios did not differ between groups onentry. However, after 12 weeks, treated subjects had significantly lower postexercise ankle-to-arm ratiosthan on entry, whereas control subjects had no changein this ratio during the 12-week study period. Thelower ankle-to-arm ratios in treated subjects aftertraining resulted from a higher systolic arm bloodpressure with no change in ankle pressure.
