The intrusion of social issues into mathematics is the work of Marxist agitators and propagandists . 'Schools are for schooling, not social engineering'(Cox and Boyson,1975, page 1).Social diversity therefore does not concern mathematics, except that pupils need to be stratified by ability , and that econimic diferences allow social 'betters' to buy better (i.e. private ) education. In summary , this view is agressively reproductive of the existing social order and inequalities, as well as being monoculturalist and crypto-racist.
