Penang Gerakan has been urged to keep their heads held high and fight for the betterment of the party.
Its president Datuk Seri Mah Siew Kong said Gerakan was the best multiracial party in the country.
He said the country will only be strong if unity among races exist and slammed certain parties that use race and religion to separate the people.
"Don't let such agenda into our party as we are truly a party that exists for all races," he when opening the state Gerakan delegates conference here Sunday.
The party president also pointed out that the strength of the party relied on the grassroots and was proud to see what Gerakan had done over the years despite losing the state administration.
He also slammed the current state government for being arrogant and hypocritical, saying that they had failed in politics, in their policies and the people.
He also had congratulated Penang Gerakan acting chairman Oh Tong Keong for exposing a corruption scandal that allegedly a family member a local DAP assemblyman.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission is probing the case which allegedly involves "under-the-table" dealings for purchase of affordable homes in the state.
Earlier, State Gerakan chairman Teng Chang Yeow had introduced about 30 new faces from the younger generation who had joined the party including a local Islamic university professor, several lawyers, doctors and businessmen.
