The issue of mechanisation and the
introduction of new technology have been
the subject of debate and resistance since
the industrial revolution, and on the whole,
technological change tends to take place
in spite of resistance. Here we propose the
following approach to deal with
mechanisation and new technology. Skill
training and upgradation of skills for
women on a widespread and continuous
scale is essential. In each sector, however,
the emerging required skills need to be
identified and a system of reaching "sills
to the unorganised sector needs to be set
up. This must be the joint responsibility
of government and the industry
