INTRODUCTION AND SCOPE
The design coordination process ensures that all design activities associated with both new and changed services are understood and coordinated. This includes the design work included in changes, projects and support work as well as supplier activity.
Design coordination is responsible for making sure that the design of services and their supporting infrastructure are consistent and in line with the present business requirements as well as taking into account emerging requirements.
The design coordination process is a key part of the service design stage of the ITIL service lifecycle and highlights the need to coordinate, control and monitor the various activities undertaken within service design. This coordination, control and monitoring ensures consistency is achieved. Without design coordination, there is a risk that service design activities become inconsistent and do not contribute to the realisation of the business requirements.
