Positive affect and job satisfaction
Positive affect and job satisfaction are two additional predictable self leadership outcomes that have been advanced in the literature. In a field study of a group of employees at America West airlines, Neck and Manz found significant relationship between a thought self-leadership training intervention and subsequent levels of both positive affect (enthusiasm) and job satisfaction. More recently in a separate empirical study. Houghton and Jinkerson reported a significant relationship between self leaderships constructive thought strategies and job satisfaction as mediated by the absence of dysfunctional thought processes and by subjective well being (happiness). Although these studies provide good preliminary support for these relationships, future research should continue to investigate the role of self-leadership in shaping positive affect and job satisfaction.
