For her fall collection, we see inspiration taking sight from the artists whose work explored light, space, and reflections, such as James Turrell and Olafur Eliasson, for her appropriately named collection Lumina. As light defines shapes and spaces, so does Ilja’s delicate folds that are quickly becoming her trademark characteristic. As the collection progresses, so does her exploration in the phenomenons of light transitioning from day to night. The colours build in contrast and textures take on a more reflective state. It is hard not to point out, that one of the most forward trends of the season across the board, is the exploration of space and the emotions that it triggers. Whether of isolation or of self absorption, our fascination continues and is provoked in the prints where light is represented in strokes of black, white, and red.
As if finding a cosmic harmony, glittery hard structured material is paired up with fluid fabrics as matte doubles up with shiny. Geometric is balanced with more feminine, organic shapes for the final graphical touch. As with her previous seasons, Ilja gives us a strong feminine, modern and tough collection.
