CHANGE PROPOSALS
To properly manage major changes, such as the introduction of a new or changed service, change proposals are submitted to change management to avoid potential issues such as negative impacts on live services or excessive or conflicting resource demands. If the change proposal is authorised, it allows the service to be chartered and the service design activity to be initiated. However, this is not authorisation of the change itself.
The change proposal usually comes from the service portfolio management process and should include:
• a high-level description of the change;
• a business case;
• a timeline for the change.
If change management authorises the change proposal, then it is included in the change schedule. Subsequent RFCs should cross-reference the change proposal.
