I like studying English because it is the only language that I know, so I think that I should learn to use it as well as I can.
I also agree with some scholars who claim that English is very "masculine" as compared with some languages that are more "feminine."
And English is very flexible. It easily adopts words from other languages, and it has all kinds of grammatical features that other languages may lack.
Of course, it is not perfect. It does lack words for certain occasions.
"Malicious pleasure" (as suggested by the Fowler brothers) does not have the same tone as the German "schadenfreude," which is used by more literate Americans.
In short, I agree with you that English is a fantastic language!
