(4) Understand the current processes, functions and roles: ITIL by itself
represents very good process governance framework, however, it is not easy to implement ITIL. The key challenges often associated with ITIL are cultural
and political resistance. Therefore, the next step that needs to be done is to
properly understand the cultural and political resistances that exist in the
firm. In terms of culture, ITIL attempts to drive people away from their habits
and routine work. This shift in culture can be a particular issue for many
organizations where IT personnel in particular have worked independently or
in silos.
