There are many benefits of ecotourism and if it is done correctly there are many more advantages than disadvantages of ecotourism. Benefits of ecotourism for the host countries include:
Protection of indigenous cultures and customs
Wildlife protection
Resource conservation - Countries can protect their natural resources through ecotourism as an alternative to selling them and the land being pillaged by international and national companies
Protecting the environment and even improving conditions – visitors get to see something as pristine as possible, thus land is being reclaimed and saved from degradation
Ecotourism is increasingly shown to help in reducing poverty as revenue from visitors is put back into the communities
Possible for countries that would otherwise never think of tourism or be attractive to tourists or travellers, to set up ecotourism initiatives for areas such as cloud forests, empty tundra regions or deserts.
