3. Conclusion
In contrast to their isomers, 2-anilinobenzimidates have scarcely been described in the literature. They are now easily accessible by reaction of in situ generated N-heterocyclic carbenes of indazole with alcohols at moderate temperatures. The reaction proceeds via a ring-cleaved intermediate, which can also be trapped with water to give the isomeric anthranilamides, which constitute an extremely important class of compounds due to their broad spectrum of biological activities.
