Racism
• Racism is the process where social groups categorize other groups as different and inferior.
• The dominant groups often socially exclude (marginalize) the other groups. It means that
members of a racial or ethnic minorities find difficulty to be accepted by the larger society.
• Ethnocentrism
• Recent phenomena of globalization (international cultural interchange) gave threat to
Western “modern” livelihood, culture, and identity.
• Western people are afraid of losing their privilege.
• It lead to nationalism among Western.
• Arrival of new ethnic minorities such as migrant workers became a threat and caused
racism.
