Dear Thailand staff members,
Please be updated the additional personal income tax deductible item for the year 2014-2015
On October 14, 2014 The cabinet has approved the Revenue Department proposal of individuals be allowed to deduct the cost of domestic package tours or accommodation from personal income tax at a maximum of 15,000 baht a year which are aimed at stimulating domestic tourism and the national economy. The tax deduction for travel expenses is expected to take effect for 2014-2015 tax years.
Under such measure, local tourists are allowed to use receipts from their tourism expenditures such as hotel accommodations and tourism service in the country to claim tax rebates at their annual personal income tax payment. However, there are some more legal processes for the official announcement in Royal Decree and Ministerial Regulation which will describes the actual effective date and its details.
This item will be processed once it is official announced. If the announcement is made after payroll cut-off date in December 2014, this item will not be taken into December payroll processing and you will need to get the tax refund for this item into your annual personal income tax filing form.
Should you need more clarification, please do not hesitate to contact me or Khun Kanittha.
