Gender equity in terms of access to educational opportunities is not generally a significant challenge
for Thailand, where gender parity exists throughout much of the school system, except in relation
to repeating grades in primary school. Boys in primary education in Thailand are significantly more
likely to have to repeat grades than girls.139The pattern is also evident in secondary education, but
is not as pronounced. Boys in Thailand are also less likely to make the transition from primary to
secondary school, and so the girls are more likely than boys to participate in secondary schooling
