The Central Bank of Brazil left its key interest rate unchanged at 14.25 percent for the eighth consecutive time on July 20th, amid political uncertainty and high inflation expectations. The decision was widely expected by markets, as policymakers aim to bring inflation back to target despite a deep economic recession. Interest Rate in Brazil averaged 15.66 percent from 1999 until 2016, reaching an all time high of 45 percent in March of 1999 and a record low of 7.25 percent in October of 2012. Interest Rate in Brazil is reported by the Banco Central do Brasil.
