By judgment, it was estimated that the original solids content was in the low 8% range, so enough water was added to bring the low solids content into the 5% range. These 2 ranges were representative of those generally found in frozen spinach. The samples were labeled A high solids) and B (low solids). An analysis was made before sending out the samples to the collaborators. Two samples each of A and B were run in duplicate; sample A averaged 7.96% solids and sample B averaged 5.45% solids.
