The diffusive nanocomposite plate serves as a light scattering plate in the module. Incident light from the sun propagates through the light-guide plate. Light incident onto the nanocomposite plate is then scattered irregularly by the embedded diffusive nanoparticles and is subsequently transmitted in all directions within the plate. Some of the light penetrates the
diffusive nanocomposite plate and enters the glass plate. The glass plate acts as another light-guiding layer, because its index of refraction differs from that of the diffusive nanocomposite plate. Some of the light is refracted when it enters the diffusive nanocomposite plate, and the refracted light subsequently undergoes total internal reflection at the interface of the glass plate.
