In the laboratory, he (his left hemisphere) sometimes became angry with his left hand, swearing at it, striking it, and trying to force it with his right hand to do what he (his left hemisphere) wanted. In these cases, his left hand usually resisted his right hand and kept performing as directed his right hemisphere. In these instances, it was always clear that the right hemisphere was behaving with intent and understanding and that the left hemisphere had no clue why the despised left hand was doing what it was doing (Joseph, 1988).
