Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964
This is the major legislation regulating equal employment opportunity in the United States.
Title VII states it is illegal for an employer to fail or refuse to hire or discharge any individual, or otherwise discriminate against any individual whit respect to his compensation, terms, conditions, or privileges of employment because of such individual's race, color,religion,sex, or national origin.
