As expected from the reports of Spreer et al. (2007) and Kienzle et al. (2011), mesocarp attributes such as total soluble solids (TSS) and firmness, which are known for their characteristic changesduring postharvest ripening concomitant to -carotene accumulation(Vásquez-Caicedo et al., 2004, 2005), remained overallconstant throughout 24 d of on-tree maturation (TSS in Table 4,SFKS in Table 2 on day 1).
