Earlier we looked at reaction distances and the time concept of seconds was constantly involved. Driving is a second by millisecond game and taking your eyes away to text is unacceptable. It endangers you. It endangers others and leaves you with no reaction time. When the crash happens it will be at full speed because you never saw it coming. With texting, your ability to visually recognize a driving problem and possibly steer away from it is greatly reduced. The danger of texting has recently been backed up by the law. It is now illegal to text, talk, or use any mobile communication device in a school zone while driving. Distractions increase the odds of being involved in a collision. And, remember, part of driving is considering risk in timed situations and figuring out how to move away from it.
