Dear Colleagues and Visitors,
After the National Peace and Order Maintaining Council (NPOMC) took administrative control of the country, a number of its announcements and decrees has been issued and has an effect on all people in the country. The key enforcements affecting Company personnel are as follows:
• A nation-wide curfew during 10:00 p.m.-5:00 a.m., except
o International travelers.
o Shift workers and staff i.e. industrial plants, hospitals and aviation business.
o Logistics people transporting goods and frozen food which have strict expiration dates.
o Sick persons who are required to go to hospital.
o Persons with critical business needs and have approval from authorized military personnel in the area.
• Prohibition of a gathering of 5 or more people discussing politics
You are advised to fully comply with all NPOMC’s announcements and decrees and closely monitor available media sources for further announcement. You are also advised to be vigilant of the possibility of violence associated with the on-going situations at all times.
The current situation requires a heightened state of alertness. In order to ensure the safety and security of our business travelers, business travel restrictions have been increased from business essential to business critical, requiring a higher level of scrutiny and approval. Only visitors approved by the following personnel are allowed to travel to Thailand. All other travelers, including previously approved business travelers, will have their tickets postponed by the booking agents. Any previously approved business travel must be re-validated by the new designated approvers. Host approval must be sought through the following managers, or their designate:
• Upstream Travelers –
o ASBU HQ: Brad Middleton (Managing Director);
o Thailand Upstream: Pairoj Kaweeyanun (Chevron Thailand President)
A copy of the written approval along with the traveler’s personal mobile phone and accommodation details must be sent to the business traveler’s local Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT) or designated agency before a ticket will be issued. Travelers will be required to stay in Chevron Thailand’s Authorized Hotels. Travelers will then be automatically registered in the ISOS Travel Tracker database.
If the business trip is authorized by the host BU, business travelers should remain in close contact with their designated point of contact (e.g. host) before departure and adhere to the travel advice and Chevron Thailand’s communications on the situation provided before/upon arrival. This may include advice about being prepared to move hotels at short notice. Visitors are urged to avoid political demonstrations and any gatherings of people, and limit their travels to between the hotel and the office as the visit is for a business-critical purpose only.
Additional details for approval of business-essential travel may be found on the Global Security Travel Advisory – Thailand website.
Chevron Thailand office at the SCB Park Plaza will operate as normal on Monday, May 26, 2014. You are advised to consult with your supervisor if you have difficulty in commuting to work.
Thailand Crisis Management Team is closely monitoring and evaluating the situation. Further communications will be made to all personnel if there is a significant change in the situation, which has the possibility of affecting safety and security of Company personnel. Company updates on business operations will be provided via email, Chevron Emergency News Line (+66 2 545 6666) or SMS service.
If you have any questions, please contact: Lertchai Chaumrattanakul – Security Manager.
