Drafting:The students write their books in class during the allotted time for the project and also at home. They are encouraged to write spontaneously without paying much attention to spelling and grammar mistakes. They then check what theyve written and correct what they can. However, I do expect them to use the dictionary when theyre looking for words they dont know or words they want to translate from Hebrew into English. In my opinion, using the dictionary is an important skill that is beneficial in High School, in daily life and later on for academic purposes. As soon as the students have finished a chapter or a passage in their book, we hold a conference where we discuss the work, the language, as well as the contents. The conference gives them immediate feedback and important issues such as the characters and future development are dealt with. The students can then rewrite and re-edit their work. This process is repeated until the book is ready to be published.
