The result of elemental analysis obtained from EDS characterisation confirms there is migration of silver ENPs into food samples stored using coated films, while the level of silver was below the level of detection for the corresponding controls.
SEM images are shown in Fig. 6 depicting the difference between the milk powder control sample and the MP sample stored
using coated film packaging. Nano-silver particles were observed by SEM with elemental mapping of the same microscopic regions used to verify the presence of silver, as presented in Fig. 6(a), (b) which depict the corresponding control (note the absence of silver ENPs) and sample. Additionally, Fig. 6(c) reveals the size of the silver ENPs which migrated from coated films into the MP sample stored for 10 days at 40 C.
