The implementation process began by sending
students a welcome email a few days before class
began. The welcome email included an introduction
to the course and teacher as well as an instructional
video. The video directed students to
a multimedia study guide developed with Prezi
and provided instructions on how to use it. Students
were assigned to use the study guide prior
to attending the first scheduled class time. The
study guide’s initial purposes were to pre-expose
students to primary content taught in lecture and
orient them to the lab equipment. As the class
progressed, students were assigned continual use
of the Prezi to support their ability to study the
content when they were not scheduled for lab.
A homework assignment was changed from
handwritten to a Web 2.0 platform. Students were
assigned to reproduce a signal flowchart with Popplet
to support their understanding of lab equipment.
Upon completion, students emailed the instructor
a link to view the flowchart and a response
was provided with formative feedback.
