1. Identify three issues which you cannot resolve alone. Collect and analyse information regarding the issue, including role descriptions, work plans, operational plans, performance outcomes , etc.
2. Analyse the issue using the capability/authority matrix on page 4, to determine what type of network/connection will help in resolving the issue.
3. Plan the network and the actions required to build the network. Plan networking and communication activities for addressing and improving workplace outcomes. Plan to seek contributions/input from inside the organisation or from outside. Make sure you follow company procedures when doing this sort of work. Use the template provided.
4. Implement/action your plan. Ensure you meet network effectively by building relationships and communicating and exchanging ideas with diverse/different groups of people. Record the results of your network building in a diary.
Your diary should:
Describe how you used workplace information to determine networking plans.
Describe communication and networking activities with external and internal people. Describe your use of technologies and media channels. Describe use of tone and pitch and other basics of effective oral/spoken communication. Describe use of active listening techniques.
Describe how you used communication skills to network effectively and treat people with respect and empathy/understanding.
Describe the value and benefits of networking with respect to the issues identified.
5. Create a presentation which includes but is not limited to:
description of each of the three issues
assessment of the type of network required to help resolve each issue
plan to build the network
results of building the network.
6. Submit plans and records of your networking activity in accordance with the specifications below.
