Hello RIS Faculty,
First off, I want to thank all of you who have worked so hard to provide the school with well-written, cogent units of study. The review team sees quite a bit of good to excellent work within the units, but we also see that more work needs to be done.
All courses should have units that are a true reflection of what is being taught. These units should give a clear picture of what is planned for each week of the year. They should be focused on our standards and benchmarks, guided by essential questions, and rich in resources and electronic links.
Ideally, all units should be finished before the start of the school year and conscientiously modified as the year progresses. First year teachers may create and enter units as the year progresses and they begin to develop their courses, but by the second year, and for teachers who have been here for multiple years, it should simply consist of curricular modifications.
To sum up, work on units should be ongoing. That's why they'll be reviewed weekly. If you have not as of yet entered or updated your units, please begin that work now. The ultimate objective is to have working units entered for all courses by the end of January. If you or your department need(s) a specialized timeline, please see Madeleine and she'll work with you to devise one.
Thanks,
Peter...
