E. A Critique of the Aims of the Progressive Educators
The overarching strength of this perspective and its aims are that it attends to the nature, interests and needs of the learner (as they are perceived). The aim is to enhance the learner in terms of self-esteem and as a confident epistemological agent in mathematics. This is a very great strength. The purpose of education must primarily by to benefit and enhance the learner, and any intended benefits for society or human culture derive from this primary aim.
