The Natural Resources and Environment Crime Division or NRECD in Thailand again arrested illegal wildlife traders in the North-east of Thailand (BuengKhan Province).
The couple arrested were driving their car towards the Thai-Laos border when they were stopped by a special unit of the police. In the cooler box and inside the truck officers found protected wild animals, most of them cut up, such as civets, muntjac and deer.
Illegal wildlife traders can face up to 40,000 Baht fines (US$ 1300) and a jail-term up to 4 years (which is usually not given).
We at WFFT applaud the wildlife law enforcement by the authorities!
