ABSTRACT - Soft-switching techniques have recently beenapplied in the design of dc-ac converters in order to achievebetter pwformance, higher t:ffieiency, and higher powerdensity. However, the work that has been done in this field isnot widely known. In this paper a systematic overview andgeneric classification of the soft-switching dc-ac converters ispresentedl. Their operating principles, performance evaluation,and design limitations are discussed. Some possible industrialapplications of soft-switched dc-ac converters are addressed.
