A third part of Thomas Cook's strategy was to seek growth in overseas markets. While the holiday
market was becoming increasingly saturated in the company's Western Europe heartland, new opportunities were arising in the rapidly expanding economies of Asia. The company had previously sold off many overseas operations, although many continued, by agreement, to trade under the Thomas Cook brand name. The company now sought to buy back control of many of these in high-growth markets
