Major achievements have been made in the development of Chinese marine fisheries since the new China was founded in 1949. The total marine catch is up from 0.6 million tons in 1950, to 13.6 million tons in 2011,over 20-fold increase, and mariculture production has increased from 0.15 million tons in 1954 to 15.5 million tons in 2011, nearly 100-fold increase [9,10].
