Intention to leaue. Prior research suggests that intention to leave is an important outcome in understanding salesperson behavior. Although intention to leave is an undesirable outcome for organizations, it is nonetheless valuable to understand its predictors in order to minimize its negative impact on an organization’s effectiveness. Job satisfaction and organizational commitment are two important predictors that have been shown, in previous studies, to reduce an employee’s intention to leave (Babakus et al., 1999; Bedian and Achilles, 1981; Boles et al., 199t; Netemeyer et al., 199O; Sager, 199Œ; Johnston et al., 199O). Thus, we predict the following:H10: Higher levels of salespeople’s job satisfaction will have a negative impact on their intention to leave the salesforce.H11: Higher levels of salespeople’s organizational commitment will have a negative impact on their intention to leave the salesforce.
