In a randomized
trial of the ReliefBand, which emits an
electrical current to stimulate the P6 acupuncture
point patients who were randomly assigned
to the active device, as compared with
those assigned to a sham device, were reported
to have significantly less nausea and vomiting
and were more likely to gain weight (77% vs.
54%, with an average weight gain of 5.5 lb vs.
2.9 lb [2.5 kg vs. 1.3 kg]); however, this study also
was limited by a lack of blinded assessment of
the outcomes.
