CONCLUSION
The participants attempted to carry out their external and
internal tasks, which were driven by ETGs and ITGs that
pushed them to assertive behaviors. Furthermore, the ITGs
influenced the occurrence of assertiveness by enforcing the
external tasks. The executive agents were auxiliary variables.
The Nursing Leadership Assertiveness Model could be
used for prediction or prescription in Iranian nursing after
further research and refinement. Based on the model, bringing
a change in the support from the top managers, improving
self-learning skills, and learning psychology might be effective
in improving Iranian nurse leaders’ assertiveness. In
addition, by developing an instrument that includes items on
religious and ethical beliefs and the family and social growth
conditions, as well as the learning (or not) of assertiveness in
the past, one can predict nurse leaders’ assertive behaviors in
the future.
