Social control theory posits that strong bonds with family members, friends, and coworkers motivate individuals to engage in responsible behavior and refrain from problematic behavior. Therefore, a supportive, structured social context that reflects cohesion and monitoring should be related to less alcohol misuse. In this vein, active support and supervision in close family relation- ships are associated with remission (Moos & Moos, 2007). 'Although meta—analytic reviews indicate that involving the family in a patient‘s treatment is generally an effective means to promote recovery froi'n""alcoholism and drug abuse, most empirically supported famin treatment methods are relatively lengthy and intensive (O’Farrell, Murphy, Alter, & Fals-Stewan, 2008). In this study, the mean Korean Anger Expression Inventory score of the experi- mental group decreased from 53.17 to 51.62, but that of the control group also decreased, from 50.04 to 49.00. However, the scores of the experimental group decreased by a significantly greater margin (P < .05) than did those of the control group. The main issue was that the effect size was not sufficiently large, which could suggest a low efficacy of the program, despite anecdotal reports in which a majority of participants described themselves as satisfied with the program. In a review of raw data, researchers found interesting changes in the scores between the experimental and the control groups. Three participants in the experimental group were exacerbated in their ' anger level more than l0 points after the Program whereas four participants of the control Group
