In 1971, the first Australian McDonald’s opened in the Sydney suburb of Yagoona 17 years after the company was founded in the USA. Until 1978, the first Australian McDonald's Drive-Thru store opened in Warrawong, NSW and other branches in Adelaide, Brisbane, Collingwood Victoria, Melbourne, Queensland ans Tasmania. Nowadays, there are over 900 McDonald's restaurants across Australia, with approximately 90,000 people employed in restaurants and management offices.
