This article was based on the theory that implementing eco
initiatives could reduce water and food waste within hotels. The
researcher further aimed to provide practical examples to how
existing theory regarding these initiatives was applicable to operations
within hotels. Sustainability through eco initiatives may
be considered within any organisation and is not specific to any
industry. However, with tourism being accountable for 5.5% of the
world’s Gross National Product (GNP), its product and service value
is evident in this regard.
