Perceived susceptibility is
an individual’s own perception of the likelihood of experiencing
a condition that would adversely affect health.
Perceived seriousness is defined as a person’s interpretation
of the degree of intensity of a disease, that is, the extent to
which the person considers that the disease may make great
demands on them, affect their interpretation of obstacles that
could prevent or control advancement, access or progress.
Perceived benefits are actions taken to prevent disease or deal
with an illness. Perceived barriers are characteristics of a
treatment or preventive measure that may be seen as
inconvenient, expensive, unpleasant, painful or upsetting.
