Signs give information several ways. The color, shape, and obviously words or lines are all providing clues to the driver about what the sign is informing you of. Let us start with colors. Black, white, and red signs are mandatory. If you disobey them then a traffic ticket can come your way. Here are some examples: one way, speed limit, stop, yield, and no u-turn signs all demand a specific action by the driver. There are also blue signs that let us know about road side services like up ahead there is a gas station or a place to eat. Round blue signs tell us that a hospital is nearby. Next, there are the orange signs that let us know the road is under construction. In these areas, speed limits are often reduced and any violation of the directions given on these signs will result not only in a traffic ticket but the fine will be doubled if workers are present. Green signs label streets for us. Green signs also give us directions like what streets are at the next exit if you are on an expressway. Brown signs tell us about the points of historical interest or recreation, like a lake. And finally, there is yellow which is always found on diamond shaped signs. Despite simply being cautionary these signs have the ability to save your life because they are warning you about hazards on or near the road that often endanger many drivers. Signs such as sharp turn or winding road are going to be yellow and extremely important if you are a chronic speeder. These signs are simply warning you about what to expect ahead on the road. This slight warning allows you to be prepared for the situation as opposed to surprised by the situation. The surprised driver is going to make sudden actions that can throw the car out of control which obviously would endanger yourself and others. Do you really have the right to endanger others?
